While the Banning house is just down the street from the Drum Barracks Civil War Museum, the two really do play well off of each other. There is a trolley leaving the Banning House for the Barracks so seeing both Museums makes for a very nice day. The Museum is a well preserved civil war era Army barracks. While touring the Barracks the importance of California to the Civil War is outlined, and a nice little history lesson is learned as well.
