Enter the Banning Residence Museum (called the Banning House) and you'll be transported back to the 1800's in Los Angeles. This place not only shows how the rich lived back then, but it also discusses the founding of the LA harbor, the expansion of the city, as well as the civil war, California's military and other very neat inventions of the time. Be sure to go downstairs for a re-enactment and check out the photos of the mansion and Los Angeles Harbor. Also some information on Catalina Island. Very neat way to spend a Saturday. Admission is free. Also see the review of the Civil War Barracks.
