If you are ever near the Fort Worth, Texas area and want to go back in time, check out the Historic Fort Worth Stock Yards just a short drive from downtown. The area looks straight out of the olden days with brick roads and a mix of shops, restaurants, and bars along the main street. There were even a few people riding along the road on horses when we were there.
We walked through a few of the stores and many of them had western (cowboy) clothing, gifts, toys, and memorabilia. I would have liked to have had time to try out a restaurant (or two) in the area – but we had other plans later in the day so we didn’t spend a lot of time in the area.
There is a place there called the Cowtown Coliseum that holds rodeos. You can check that out at http://www.cowtowncoliseum.com/. We didn’t see a rodeo – but it looked really neat.
Here is an interesting website I found about the Fort Worth Stockyards: http://www.durangotexas.com/eyesontexas/fortworth/stockyards.htm
