I used to live in Mexico (San Miguel de Allende, GTO) and I have traveled extensively in that country as well. Thus, I know excellent Mexican cuisine. Without a doubt, Maria's is as authentic as it comes. The Molé Pollo (Chicken molé) is THE BEST I've ever eaten anywhere, including Mexico. I always order this dish although I've tried many others. If you're expecting a Mexican restaurant atmosphere, however, you're in for a letdown. The atmosphere is something akin to an English Pub, left over from the previous incarnation of this establishment. There are paintings of fox hunters on the wall for example -- very strange for a Mexican restaurant. But the more I think about it, it really isn't so strange because tackiness abounds in Mexico, so why not Bonita Springs, Florida? Still, if you can overlook this triviality, you'll definitely enjoy the food and full bar. Buen provecho!
