Besides the theater there aren't really any landmarks or significant stores or shops, which makes Coolidge Corner Theater all the more important to the area. Don't be mistaken. The big blockbusters do not usually make it to the theater, given its limited seating and just two screens. No, Coolidge Corner Theater targets a different crowd. Often it is independent films gracing the screen at Coolidge. Other times it is Japanese animated films such as Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away, and Howl's Moving Castle. Finally, there are cult classics that find their way to the screen as midnight or weekend showings. Coolidge Corner Theater is definitely unique, but it doesn't excuse the crampedness.
