If you're in need of a decent, cut and you're on a budget, then this is the place to go.
Located in Soho (but not in the fashionable area with shops and stores nearby; this Aveda is located in a somewhat busy business area), the institute is a place for students to hone their craft.
Sometimes you get a good haircut and sometimes you don't.
I wouldn't trust my hair color to the students here but it is a good place for a trim (about $20) and a nice blow out (this used to be included in the price but now they charge extra).
The prices have increased slightly but it is still cheap compared to other NY salons.
You will need to call and make an appointment and the wait can be long but they do often have cancellations.
All in all, one of the cheapest cuts in NY.
