I've shopped all over New York and the world for that matter, and I'm constantly on the lookout for hidden gems like The Bathroom. The shop carries a wonderfully edited selection of terrific bath products -- soaps, shampoos, candles, towels, etc, that you don't seem to see on every other block.
Icing on the cake is the British owner, Colin, who is very funny and charming, not to mention very knowledgable and helpful in chatting about his products.
If you're sick of the big chains and want to go back to the times when shopping was a pleasurable experience, I recommend The Bathroom in Greenwich Village just off of Bleecker Stree
