We brought our 15 year old girl (Queensland Heeler Mix) to Emerald City with the knowledge that it would most likely be her first and last visit. The short review is that the staff was incredibly kind and the vet was amazing through the whole process. If you want more detail, read on.When we got to the clinic my husband and I were allowed to carry our girl to the back room for weighing and to the examining table where they set here up immediately with oxygen to ease her breathing. We were also able to stay with her while vet was examining her. The vet was very sympathetic and clear about our options and the prices. We were never made to leave and only left on our own to discuss the next steps. After deciding that giving our girl a peaceful end was the best thing we could do for her we were allowed as much time as we wanted to say goodbye and to stay afterwards. Throughout all of it the vet was respectful and supportive and very clear about every step of the process.Price wise I found them quite fair...even compared to regular vet prices, and especially given they are an emergency vet. Reading some of the other negative reviews here on yelp I see a lot of complaints on the price from people with new kittens or puppies or people who have a hard time saying no (not their fault! but not the vets fault either! I blame pop culture ;) ). Word to the wise, emergency cares is always expensive and unless your pet is dying (as opposed to simply being in pain) it's worth asking what you can afford vs your pets actual need before taking them to an emergency vet.Back to the price - while we had no objection to their prices we happened to be broke when I went in. That is, we had $0 in my bank account but had just deposited a huge check that would more than cover the cost. That deposit had not yet gone through when we took our girl in. However, Emerald Cit was very accommodating and once it became apparent that no other options were available to us except to wait until the check cleared they got us set up so that they would not bill our account until the deposit cleared.Overall as good as an experience as one could expect during a difficult time.
