Editorial review from Citysearch 8/31/2013

On August 31st, 2013 I was running late for an appointment at the beauty salon. So, I stopped in to the local beauty supply store in Sauk Village (Jun Beauty Spa at 7 Sauk Plaza) since it was close to home and the expressway to purchase the hair. This was my first time using this particular store. I asked the sales lady for a specific type of hair and she said they didn't have the color/length I was seeking, and recommended another kind. She even let me feel the sample of the other hair. I purchased two boxes. I did not open the boxes before leaving - I was rushing, and just jumped on the expressway and drove over 27 miles to my beauty salon, which was JC Penny. The stylist opened the packages in front of me to see the hair, and there was no hair IN EITHER PACKAGE! I spent $119 per box for a total of $238. I had to drive all the way back those 27 miles, but I called first and was told there was nothing they could do and they checked the boxes the night before and all had hair. They said the same thing when I went to the store, and we even had the police called. The sales lady argued with me that there was hair in all the other boxes, and asked if the stylist opened the hair in front of me. I told her she did, in fact, the stylist took a photo of the empty boxes. This is a reputable salon (JC Penny, a part of JC Penny clothing store). I pulled out my money at the beauty supply to let them know that I was capable of buying more hair, so this was no scam on my part. I only wanted to be reimbursed for the empty packaging, or at least offered replacement hair. Neither happened, and they continued to defend that they checked the hair the night before, and something about other people bought hair and they had no issues. I am offended at being essentially called a liar, and now I have to go and buy more hair just to get my hair done. They didn't even attempt to resolve the issue, just accused me of lying!!! Worse, they didn't even bother to take my name and information. If a customer has a complaint like this, even if you have no intentions of contacting them, take down their info just in case you go back and find something wrong on YOUR END! So, I am filing a complaint all over the place, and will take it to small claims court (it's the principle of the matter!). \r I am not a regular at the beauty supply stores or beauty salon (to my husband's frustration! :-) ), so when I do go, I expect to get what I pay for. It's the same if someone went to a grocery store and purchased a sealed box of an item, only to get it home and find that the box has all of the packaging in it, but the item you were paying for is not there. It's not right, and it's not fair. more
