Once again the guys at ECAE came through. My Montero was taken in for routine service and as I drove up the check engine light went on. Fortunately it was able to be diagnosed on the spot and it turned out to be the catalytic converter. They fixed it quickly and just in time because it is due for a smog inspection and would have failed.
These guys are good.
