We stayed in the Cornell Hotel de France for 5 days and loved it.\r Each floor is devoted to an individual artist, we were on the Chagall floor, with posters and prints of Chagall on the walls of the hallway. The room was large with two beds, on the 4th floor, with windows looking out onto the street.\r There is a wonderful cage elevator, that I'm sure will frighten a few people, but it reminded us of Paris in the 50's.\r It was $113 a night, but with the usual tax it came to $157, which, for San Francisco is not bad.\r That also included a breakfast of two choices, French toast or eggs with bacon and fried potatoes.\r Only one problem, the bathroom is not really set up for the elderly. A wonderful very large claw tub, but to high to climb into, and there are no grab bars. At 76. I could handle it, but my partner is 83, and no way he could.\r There is also a Cable Car stop on the corner of Bush and Powell. Good luck trying to find a place on it.\r There is also a comfortable lounge on the first floor, and a room set up with chairs and tables for coffee.\r The Jeanne d'Arc restaurant is good for breakfast, but a bit expensive for dinner for us. Also there are life size stature of Jeanne around the hotel. A hoot!\r Would we stay there again? Most definitely. more
