Editorial review from Citysearch 3/7/2013

My son has been attending the Learning Star Preschool for over 1.5 years and is currently 3 yrs old. Some of the reviews are not giving the School credit it deserves. The staff and Director have always been kind and courteous to my son and me. They have worked with me on payment options and work schedules. I have conducted surprise visits before, during or after nap time, to see how my son is doing and how he is being cared for. Never have I found something that alarmed me that he was not being cared for to the highest standards. I have open discussions with the teachers any time I have any concerns about behavior or weekly the training objectives. They have always been open to my concerns and helped me understand what can help my child at home when not in the school. I review the daily sheet everyday from the school, which lets me know what he ate that day, potty times, what they covered in class and if he took a nap. The hours of the school help me because I can drop my son off early (i.e. 7am) and or pick him up before 6:30 pm. A lot of the day cares close at 6pm, which would be tough for me since my work can run past 5:30 pm on some of the crazy work days. As far as security, they have a code lock to access the building and most of the time; some one is at the front desk to make sure no one just a slip in that does not belong. In every room, parents are required to sigh in and out every day. As far as what the Director drives, well that is irrelevant to my Childs care or learning experience. BTW, the Director normally drives a BMW like most of the people in Cary! I will admit that sometimes during the summer, my son will come home a little dirty, but there is a reason for this. The play ground is primarily mulch and not cement. But I would rather have a dirty happy child, than a child that broke an arm or something because of falling on a hard surface. And I think it is good for the children to get out of the building and play. In summary, my son and I enjoy this school. He has learned his ABC's and 1 to 10 in English and Spanish before he was 3 yrs old. But, the school has a warm and caring feeling to it, not a feeling of corporate business or a ""sit down and watch TV babysitter"" for 8 hours. As a parent to another parent, go check out the school and see it yourself. more
