Editorial review from Citysearch 7/11/2012

I am surprised at all of the self-serving selfishness amongst some in the Christian community today, and how easily they will bash a very well established and flourishing ministry. Do you expect every single person that comes to this church to be a perfect saint or something? Are they obligated to help every single person out who comes knocking on their door asking for money? Or should they use discernment? Interesting to see the negative reviews here. Instead of worrying about ""oh my, is anyone going to come up to me and say hello"", why don't YOU take the initiative and go up to folks and start saying hello, and meet new people? Ever think that maybe they are thinking the exact same thing of you? We reached out to Oak Hills asking for direction to a small group, and within a day had 4 different people contact us, one elderly couple came to our home, prayed with us and fellowshipped, that week we attended a home group which was very nice, then started to get to know people more after attending the Sunday morning services and Bible studies. You have to put forth some effort and desire to serve, you can't expect everyone to have that mentality. The majority of the people we've met here are friendly and very grace-oriented. It's not perfect by any means. But they do a lot for the community. Just look at David Robinson who has attended this church for years! The church has a lot of mission plants in the world and numerous people have come to Christ. Their children's ministries are top-notch. If you really have concerns about the church you should try calling during the week and actually speaking to a pastor, instead of bashing the church on an online forum. They are not going to hang up on you. We've only been going two months and have already gotten plugged in to various ministries, but it's because we took the initiative instead of just sitting there feeling sorry for ourselves. We are the Church, people, Christ called all of us to serve, not to be served. Having the correct mentality will make all of the difference in the world. more
