This is what happened: Last week I took my older car to Lamb's for an inspection before a long road trip. I complained to Chris and Andrew that the car's engine was overheating. After the "thorough" inspection and oil change, Chris said I was "good to go" (no explanation for the overheating). Today, I had my neighbor take a look under the hood; here is what he showed me: Black radiator fluid, water in the oil (oil should not drip freely off the dip stick--like water), sludge the consistency of mud. Blown head gasket. This will kill your engine. Obviously, they didn't even pop the hood, just drained the oil and filled it back up. They checked nothing. Fluids are critical--not just the levels, but the color and consistency. These people should be shut down (and drawn and quartered).
