Coming from a lineage of New Mexican 5/21/2012

Coming from a lineage of New Mexican heritage (Spaniard and Native tribes) I was disapointed in the food. I grew up with New Mexican recipes that had been handed down generations. The abiance is amazing and the wood smoke that emanates from the place is luring, but the food is overglorified and tastes more Mexican to me. After the unsatisfying experience of the ""New Mexican"" food I tried the teak tare tare dish thinking I might find something I liked...not so. The acompanying caper and other sauces did not flatter the dish, the bread was so dry and hard one coulp break a tooth, and the steak tare tare itself had an ""old"" stale meat taste. I took it home and fed it to my dogs after I cooked it in a pan. I love the ambiance of the place and it's a great place to grab a few glasses of wine but the food is not the greatest. Found the same with Dick's Hideaway- a Richardson's place down the street (the service is horendous there). more
