Big Hopes Big Disappointment! 4/26/2012

UPDATE: I got an apology and request for coninued business from my designer today. Build was apparently scheduled for first week in May sonce we began the process. Moving my Stars up to 3 until the build is final and I can see the result!\r \r \r \r On 14 March I received an estimate from one Quality Custom Decks designers. He was very friendly and helpful throughout the estimate and left me a couple of days to decide. The design I originally requested was a ground level 10X12 on one side of my Patio slab and a 16X12 on the opposite side. After some thought I decided that I would do one side at a time to minimize the out of pocket cost. I called two days later and requested a quote for just one side (10X12).\r Approx. 23 March I made a second call for the one side estimate. I received it the same day via email. I replied to the email that I definitely wanted to proceed. On 28 March I received and email with instructions. A contract to sign, and some requirement they needed for submittal to my Housing Association. \r On 30 March I was contacted by my HOA and told the documents submitted were incorrect and they needed a new one. I contacted my designer and he told me I had sent the wrong one but he tried it anyway?just in case they would take it. He described to me what the correct document was and I sent it to him the same night. He stated he would send to my HOA right away.\r On 5 Apr I contacted my designer and requested a build date. That afternoon I received a call from their scheduler stating they were discussing my build and would contact me soon to give me a date.\r On 13 April I was contacted by my HOA because they had still not received the required build information. I contacted my designer ? he said he would send it that night.\r On 16 April my HOA stated that had still not received the required documents. I sent an email to my designer?.\r On 18 April I was told they were meeting the next day to assign me a build date.\r On 21 April I was received a letter from my HOA that the project had been approved.\r On 23 April I sent notice to the company that I had the approval letter and requested a build date. No response.\r On 24 April I called the company and asked to speak with my designer or the scheduler. I was told their phones weren?t working correctly and that someone would call me back. No call, no email?.still no build date.\r On 26 April I contacted the company and asked them to cancel my request. I cannot tell you why I had so much trouble getting build date. Im forced to believe that it was because the project was so small ? 10X12 approx. $1900 that the business just wasn?t that important to them.\r To say I?m disappointed is mild because now I have to start over with a new company ? 6 weeks wasted. My cancellation was not due to irritation but concern about potential follow up for future issues. What if I have a problem with the deck after it?s built? If they won?t return your calls/emails before you give them money?what?s to say they will after you have already paid. \r All of their personnel were polite and friendly to me?when you could get them.\r Bottom Line: I can?t say do NOT use this company but I will say this company requires the customer to be persistent and have the time to do lots of follow up. I?m paying them?right?\r more
