I purchased a Groupon for $45.00 for cleaning 4 rooms of carpet. After arranging for an appointment, Ken arrived and I showed him 2 averaged-sized (12'X12') bedrooms with light soiling connected by a 3'X8' hallway, also with light soil, and a master bedroom with heavy soiling. He immediately said the cost would be more for these four 'rooms' (yes, that hallway was a 'room'). He said that amount of work would normally be +/-$350.00. I asked how much additional for the extra deep cleaning on the master bedroom and he replied an extra $60.00. I asked how much the Groupon that I paid $45.00 was worth and he said $109.00. I asked how much extra for the 'heavy soil cleaning' in the master and he replied $60.00 more. I asked that he not do the 2 small rooms and hallway and use the Groupon that was worth $109.00 to do just the master bedroom, as since I paid $45.00 for Groupon and add an extra $60.00 to it, that was pretty much a wash, to which he vehemently objected and said that the entire cleaning of the 4 'rooms', with the heavy soiling in the master, was now going to cost me an extra $100.00, on top of the $109.00 worth of cleaning that I paid $45.00 for. Typical carpet cleaning B.S. of bait-and-switch. I needed the work done and just had him do it and get out, but the quality of the cleaning in the heavily-soiled (meaning just dirt and nothing unusual) left much to be desired.
