Everything about the Inn of the Dove in Egg Harbor Township NJ 08234 (6665 Black Horse Pike, Rt. 322 East) was as advertised per their web site when we booked our 2 night romantic stay for Feb. 24-25, 2012.\r \r What wasn’t mentioned was you have 15 minutes to look over the suite to decide you want to stay in it or change to another one. During that time I checked for bedbugs and found none. I checked that the heat, TV, water, most of the lights, bathroom, etc. functioned properly. On the surface, everything looked OK, but once unpacked and settled, found that \r 1. there were no clothes hangers in the closet, \r 2. no plastic water cups in the bathroom, no sink stopper to hold water in the basin.\r 3. there was just one small bar of soap (1” x 2”) for the two of us, \r 4. all of the lights flickered once they were on for several minutes (somewhat annoying), \r 5. there was a missing light bulb at the inside of the door, \r 6. the combination bathroom ceiling fan and light did not work at all\r 7. no end table or lamp table to put your car keys, watch, other stuff into. (Our clothing filled the small 3 drawer dresser table that the TV was on)\r 8. the built in audio system was not working at all\r 9. to get ice, you had to walk outside from your suite to the office so they could fill the ice bucket for you. Try that at night. That will ruin some romantic pleasures.\r 10. We booked the Italian Deluxe suite, and the only thing “Italian” about it was myself and my wife (we are Italian). Just a plain Jane suite. Not even a statue of Caesar or Roman drapes. Bummer.\r \r We are very tolerant people, so we just asked for \r 11. some hangers, (got 3 of them), \r 12. received 2 more bars of soap, (very generous), \r 13. got about 6 Styrofoam cups (OK), \r 14. was told the ceiling fan/light would get fixed the next day (it wasn’t done)\r 15. never got a sink stopper. Office person didn’t know what I was talking about.\r \r We could not discover all of this in 15 minutes to tell them we wanted another suite.\r \r Oh, it doesn’t end here. Stay tuned for this doozy situation.\r \r In the morning, we left the suite around noon time and had a fantastic day seeing the Classic Car show in Atlantic City. We got wet in the ensuing rain after the show and were both looking forward to a romantic evening getting out of or wet clothes and into the Jacuzzi with a glass of wine. Got back to the suite around 7 PM. The suite was not made up at all. Bed not made, trash not emptied, no new towels, etc.\r \r At that point, we had enough. Saw the Office person, said I was annoyed at all of these issues, and wanted a credit for the night’s stay so I could leave right away. He had no authority for that and had me talk to the manager on the phone. He said they call each room in the morning to ask if the people want the room made up, and said he called between 10:30 and 11AM, but no one answered, so he told the office not to make up the room. LIAR.\r \r Both of us were in the suite all morning until leaving at noon time., and never stepped out for a few minutes, as he alleged we must have done. This is what put us over the edge, and the reason for writing this review. This manager is a disgrace to his ethnic group and is the reason some people don’t like them.\r He insisted my car was not in the parking space and the suite appeared empty. Upon asking if he can verify that he called the correct suite number, or what my suite number was, he couldn’t tell me. LIAR.\r \r The suite was eventually made up properly. Upon checking out the next day, I videotaped the entire suite to show that nothing was taken, stolen or ruined upon our departure, and was in good condition, just in case!! I asked at the desk for a comment card, and had to explain to the office person what that was. The response was “Oh, we don’t do that here.” I can see why.\r \r Will try to send this review to corporate office to see if they respond.\r more
