I am a Pitt student and broke my glasses a few weeks ago. I went into Oakland Fashion Optical because of the proximity to campus, but I discovered that it is one of the nicest eyeglass stores that I?ve been to. The staff was friendly and attentive?the salesman (his name was James) spent over an hour with me letting me try on almost every frame they had. Once I?d finally settled on a frame, he gave me a 20% student discount, then told me that I could pick my new glasses up later that afternoon! I?ve been wearing glasses all my life, and never have I gotten same-day service. By the end of the day I had an awesome pair of eyeglasses, and they didn?t even cost me $300! Since I don?t have eye insurance, that discount makes a world of difference. After some of the experiences that I?ve had at big eyeglass chain stores, it was a joy doing business at Oakland Fashion Optical. I plan on being their customer for as long as I live in Pittsburgh.
