We had a geothermal unit installed by Allgeier 3 years ago and our coil started leaking recently. We found out that the manufacturer apparently has a 5 year warranty on the coils but that the warranty was bought back by Allgeier down to 1 year so now we have to pay for the replacement coil ourselves. Imagine if if Sears did the same thing with the refrigerators they are selling.
Also, when they presented the repair options, they tried to upsell a lot of other products/services not relevant to the repair, turning a $1500 repair potentially into a $4000-5000 overhaul. Needless to say we were not impressed at all by all this and decided to have another company do the repair.
On the upside, they do respond promptly to service calls and seemed to do a good job in the past servicing the geothermal, gas furnace and air conditioning units.
