Pembroke hospital at one time was a really good hospital, it was private, units were open, you could walk outside with a pass if you had certain privileges. Even the food was good. West II had a homey atmosphere with nice beds attractive furniture, THEN, it was sold out to a medical grouo, the horror show began. All wards were locked. Then closd the arts and craft studion-so everyone just sat around, staff was inundated with paperwork and no longer had time for patients. Eventually even the bathrooms were locked. At one point I had to wait for so long, I wet myself.\r

The staff wee brutal, they became more like prison guards. My last time there, I was put in a room that was supposed to be closed for cleaning-WHY? A guy they finally had to more to a seclusion room, peed all over the carpets--on a regular basis. I was put in there after waiting 5 hours to be admitted. I demanded finally to be allowed to go to ""my"" room so I could sleep. I had been in the hallway of Jordan hospital for 3 days, waiting to go toMcLean. No one wold tell me why. Eventaually, I went to Pembroke.\r

Anyway, there was no air-conditioning in the room, it was summer, windows are locked, and it is too much work for the staff to open the grates to open windows. I nearly sofficated with the stench of the room. I went to go to the nurses office to ask for a room change--This guy was doing a hand stand, on a chair, barking like a dog--right in front of the floor desk, with mental health counselors (who asically have no training anyhow). The ""inmates"" were psychotic for the most part. \r

Pembroke is a warehouse, they send you thre to get you on meds. Then they release you-or send you to a mental hospital, even if you have no where to go.
