If you want a $20 plate of production-line pasta served with an arrogant take-it-or-leave-it attitude, this is your place. If you want veal scallopine or (God forbid!) braciole, better go somewhere else. These Italian mainstays are not even on the menu at The Italian Kitchen. We took a party of six there to celebrate the special birthday of a good friend. They pushed two tables together which were 1 1/2"" different in height. When we asked them to switch one of the mis-matched tables with a nearby table that was empty, they arrogantly refused ... saying our birthday guest could either strattle their mismatched tables ... or eat at a different restaurant. The food quality of our 6 dishes was comparable to what you get in ""mainstream"" spaghetti houses -- but their price was double what others charge. Spokane has some fine dining establishments with outstanding food and attentive service. Italian Kitchen is sadly not one of them.
