Prior to a recent trip to Portand I checked out the counted thread shopping options on the Internet and stumbled on the Acorns & Threads website. Our hotel was in downtown Portlnd so, without a car I had to figure out the public transportation... a bit of a challenge for a country mouse. But, don't be deterred! It's quite do-able and you won't be disappointed! This independently run shop is full of beautiful patterns, fabrics and threads, especially for the sampler stitcher. Lots of stitched samples to view and there was a trunk show from Milady's Needle on display the day I was there. The shop is well organized and carefully arranged displays make things pleasant and easy to find. The staff is friendly & knowledgeable.The fabric & threads I ordered arrived back in New England before I did and will serve as a reminder of my visit to Portland and Acorns & Threads.
