Dentists, as always, separate their functions from the billing office. Behind the scenes they are much more closely aligned. The billing department serves one purpose, to bill as much, as high, bill patients for balances not really due, bill insurance companies for all they can (paper clips if they could) and maximize payments. I often thought national and local dental seminars were more about billing skills and tricks than dentistry updates. dentistry, the last rip off in health care billing (private payer fee list, and insurance acceptance amounts).
