More About Reputation? 6/3/2011

It’s a landmark and a well-known place for tourists to go to and even some locals. So of course when friends visit from elsewhere they want to go here. Who wouldn’t? Mile high sandwiches loaded with more meat than your body can even handle. But is it really as good as it’s reputation? Hmmm… It’s fine for the whole show and historic aspect of it, but if you were more concerned with taste and your wallet, I’d find somewhere else. I don’t eat pastrami or corn beef, so you might say I’m not playing fair to whether this place has taste. What I have tried are some of the sides and other foods there, which are delicious. I do like their fries, knishes and latkes. I am interested in trying more too. They are definitely less money than a sandwich. However, every person I’ve brought here who’s eaten those sandwiches all say the same thing, loaded with meat, a little dry, not super delicious. Then you have my fellow native New Yorker friends who rarely step foot in this place with so many more choices within the area. Should you go? Absolutely, it’s been around forever and it has a great reputation. I know I will end up back here and I’ll try something else each time. Just don’t lose your ticket to pay! more
