I have had body acne since before I hit puberty. Something my mother always neglected to treat. At age 20 and with health insurance I wanted to seek out a dermatologist who was nearby. Sterling was nearest and I made an appointment.
He saw me on the scheduled time.
There was only one thing that concerned me about the visit. My body acne is located on my rear, back, and breasts. Without a nurse in the room he asked me to show him. At this point I felt uncomfortable but I trusted his statement as a professional doctor and didn't think to question it. Now that I am looking back I just felt it was extremely inappropriate.
Something else is that he didn't explain what it was that was causing it. He gave me a prescription and did not say how long it will take to treat. He just told me to take the pills and rub the cream. It has been a year and I still have the body acne and I never went back to him.
I did see another dermatologist about this same issue and it wasn't explained very well to me this visit with this doctor neither. I know someone who had the same body acne I have but it was on their face. She said it took four months of pills and cream. What the other doctor explained to me was that it was a bacteria in the skin that will take time to treat and will possibly leave scars.
