I've Made Progress 5/16/2011

I've been seeing a therapist through WSI for a little over a year now. It was recommended to me by a friend when my LTR ended very badly. She had known someone else who went here and thought he'd been doing well since he began. I did find the intake process long and a bit frustrating, since I was in a deep depression when I first went and wanted to see someone asap. It took nearly 3 weeks for me to meet my assigned therapist, and I had to be proactive about it. However, I found the intake therapist very gentle and thorough, and ultimately felt confident that I would be paired with someone appropriate for my issues. As for the quality of the therapy itself: I have made some good progress in the year. At times therapy is frustrating, and of course I 'm sure my dissatisfaction at times is in part due to my issues--noone ever likes to be told that they are ""wrong"" in how they see the world or other people, and we all want results right away. At times I want to just be told what I'm doing as opposed to finding my way through talking (again, one of my issues). The place is quiet and clean, and on a few occasions after very emotional sessions I've been able to sit in the semiprivate waiting room to get myself collected before facing the real world. Sessions are 45/50 minutes long, and I wish some days that they were longer. My therapist will ""go over"" with me if she's not booked after me and feels we're at a critical point in our session. My therapist did refer me to an excellent psychiatrist (covered by my insurance) who really took her time with me before prescribing a low dosage of an antidepressant that I've found very effective. I have recommended WSI to friends. more
