The Wegmans of The Upper Eastside 5/25/2011

I am not in the Upper Eastside too often. However when I first went here I have a very good shopping experience. A lot of my co-workers shop here regularly and continuously professes the great customer service and selection which has contributed to the success of the grocery store. I needed to make a last minute run on the way home from work and the store workers were extremely helpful to me in finding a specific item. When I inquired about a special kind of sauce that I was using to prepare for a particular dish the associate didn't know where the product was but eventually brought over a stock person, another associate, and even an assistant manager to help me figure out where the sauce might be. Eventually I was led to the ethnic food aisle. My wait on line was short in the express lane and I found the other people who were also waiting in line around me to be very verbal which is unusual to the cold stand-offish mentality you see more often in Manhattan. The cashier engaged me and the woman before me in full conversation while packing my bags. I felt like I was already home. If anyone has ever been to upstate New York you will remember a similar posh grocery store with high priced goods and unique imported item. Express checking and overly friendly associates, I declare that D'agostino's is the Wegmans of the Upper Eastside. more
