My brother was in the merchant marine when I was a kid and he was always bringing stuff home from the orient. After my parents were gone I had these 7 ivory figurines that were beautifully carved. I wanted to see what they were worth so I brought them around to different antique shops. Almost everyone told me they were not ivory but in fact they were ivorene or something like that. I know for a fact that they are real. I took them to Sell Jewelry NY and they confirmed that they were Ivory Japanese Deities from the 1950s and very well executed. They offered 250.00. I need to see if that is OK with my brother first. But that was a fair offer.
