I made a reservation for the Rocco's Tacos on Las Olas for a Saturday at 6:30 for 12 people, 2 weeks ahead of time. I was promised the table in a side room away from the main dining room since as of that moment no one else had made a reservation for that room which can only hold 12 people max. (At least that was what I was told). I received a call the day of the reservation a few hours early to confirm my reservation at 6:30. At this point all was going well. We get there early, 6:00, and first the hostess asks us if we changed our reservation from 6:30 to 7:00 and the table in the side room, which we were promised was already taken. Obviously that was a little strange and annoying since she called me hours earlier to confirm a 6:30 RESERVATION! Then, the manager (whom doesn't look above the age of 25) scrambles to get another table ready. So... we wait.... 15 minutes later we get what seems like a nice booth set up, where 2 booths were put together in the middle of the noisy dining room none the less, and as the rest of our party arrives we proceed to sit down and find that there is not enough room (oh and before I forget to mention there is a huge hole where the booths connect, so if you are the ones sitting on the inside its quite uncomfortable). At this point another person from my party, goes to speak with the manager to tell him we don't have enough room and he suggested pulling up another table. Well that would have been great, but there was a party sitting there already so I am not sure how possible that was. So, we order and move on with our "nice" dinner out. Upon waiting for dinner, I make my way for the bathroom and notice a string of tables put together... empty, waiting to be sat for a big party and I think to myself "why did we not get this set up?". So a little upset, I go back to the manager to express my annoyance at the reservation, table setup, etc. fasco and he didn't even know who I was. Mind you, it is busy, but how many parties of 12 were there that they had screwed up that night?! He proceeds to be argumentative and not helpful. All he can say when I tell him that there really isn't enough room there for 12 people is, "well I offered to pull a table up next to your table" (this was was the table I talked about earlier that already had people stitting at it) and "I sat a party of 12 there the night before and they didn't have a problem with it". There was no sorry, no help in any other accomadations, just a big shrug and with actually saying "I don't care", he eminated I don't care. And upon leaving didn't even look up from the hostess stand to acknowledge that we were leaving. Now, with all of that being said, and the fact that I feel a little jaded, I do like Rocco's Tacos. I go to the Boca one all of the time that is off of Military Trail. The guac is excellent and atmosphere different. I won't stop going but I will not have a big dinner party there again, especially for the location on Las Olas. I am not even sure I will go the Las Olas location again if the same manager continues to work there.
