I tried the Preston Salon based on a Groupon I had for a Shellac manicure and regular pedicure. I found making an appointment strange as I had to give them the Groupon number to confirm it, however I didn't think too much of it as they have probably had a few clients not keep appointments. When I got to the salon I noticed it was well kept, if not a bit outdated. While I was filling out the new customer card one of the stylists was complaining about the pain from her black eye while another offered her Oxycontin. No one seemed to feel this was out of place. My nail tech, Vickie, was very sweet and seemed to know the Shellac product well. I had Shellac on my nails when I went in, and they charged me a $10 ""soak-off fee"". ( For those who don't know, Shellac is removed by soaking your nails in acetone for 10 minutes). I've never been charged for this service at ANY salon I've been to before. I've had Shellac on my nails about a dozen times and this is the first time I've had problems with the application. I don't think it was due to Vickie, but to old base/polish/top coat. These problems caused the application to take twice as long as normal. The reason I don't think it was due to Vickie is that she was able to correct it and did a great job on my pedicure. Upon leaving they gave me a bag filled with coupons and a small sample of shampoo. All in all, the experience was saved due to Vickie's upbeat personality, but I cant recommend this salon due to their ludicrous soak-off fees and old product. more
