I've found this store to be a very good store. The prices can be as high as an antique store, but that's because they want to get the best possible prices for their consignors. That being said, there are still bargains to be found. Prices are lowered over time if an item doesn't sell.
I beg to differ that they have only cheap junk. I've found many high quality antiques from time to time. The store is always changing and sometimes the good stuff gets snapped up. You definitely have to check in often.
By the way, no consignment store contacts sellers after their items sell. The rules for consignment are very clear and explained in the consignor's contract. I suspect the owner was frustrated by consignor's who often don't follow the rules. The owner is always polite to me because I am always polite and respectful to her.
