For Shame 1/28/2011

My father is an 82 year old man who is largely blind in both eyes. He relies on the TriMet handicap bus service and the Yellow Cab to get to the only places he shops - Costco and Fred Meyer. In the last two months, drivers for Yellow Cab have saddled my old blind father with foreign currency in his change. The first was a £5 note from Britain. Although I had to go downtown to change it, and there was a fee, he only lost a little. The next time it was a $2 Canadian. Again, he lost a little. Now he has turned up with a $20 peso note dated Oct 1974. This is an “old peso” which was discontinued in 1993 and was no longer redeemable after 1996. Where the driver got it is a mystery to me, but the fact is, he passed it to my father as a $20 dollar bill. It is, of course, worthless. What kind of people take advantage of old, blind men? They ought to be ashamed of themselves. I have convinced Dad to only use a charge card from now on for cab rides, and I will check his bill for any irregularities. And I hope he will remember to call someone other than Yellow Cab! If I could give NO stars, I would have!\r more
