I was the bridesmaid for my sister?s wedding and helped out with everything, including being the mediator between both sets of parents. My sister wanted a DJ, but her mother-in-law to be was INSISTING on having this live band and even offered to pay for it! OF COURSE my parents talked my sister into the live band. She wasn?t exactly happy about it, but since my parents were paying for the wedding and figured it would help them out financially, she went along with it. The closer and closer it got to the wedding date, it really started bothering her that she didn?t open her mouth and go with the DJ. Her fear was that if the live band was terrible, the whole reception would be shot. If the DJ was bad, at least the music would still be good and everyone would still be out dancing and having fun. What?s done is done. It was all set up and only a month away. I told her to relax and that everything would be okay, even though inside I actually felt the same way she did. I had a DJ for my own wedding and everything went fine.
