09/24/2010 - I choose Amici for a birthday dinner for my wife and 7 guests. The location was excellent since my wife and I live in Ft. Bend County.
To the point. The restaurant offers little in the line of fine dining. The overall response from the group including mine was that the food was mediocre at best. My Veal Marsala was luke warm and the marsala sauce was extremely bland and watery.
I was offered a 3 mix appetizer at $10 for the table which I agreed too. Two of these were eventually brought to the table. Several requests were made for bread which were eventually filled after the dinners were being served.
Once the checks were presented, I and my guests had been billed $10 per person for the two 3 mix appetizers that had been served. I was billed for 3 individuals even though my wife and I were only 2 people. The total billing for the 2 appetizers was $100.00 for the party.
I and the party felt that this was ridiculous and requested the presence of the manager. After a while, the manager (a straggly unbuttoned non-professional bum) shows up at the table and asked what can he do for us. When the appetizer billing was brought to his attention, his response was, "that is how we bill it" and walked away. Of course we were incensed to say the least. As such, our guests immediately adjusted their checks, eliminating the 20% gratuity that had been included in the billing and we left this noisy, poor service, culinary scam of an Italian Restaurant.
I did inform the bum of a manager that I truly preferred Maggiano's over this gyp joint. As a matter of fact the quality of the product is better at Olive Garden and I am not a big fan of Olive Garden.
If you want Italian and are in Sugar Land I suggest that you steer clear of Amici Ristorante. There is absolutely no value involved in your culinary experience at Amici Ristorante Sugar Land.
