I came to Elizabeth Benjamin based on a co-worker's recommendation for some counseling/marriage counseling. \r
\r
Pros: Easy to talk to, pleasant, I could relate to her in some ways. Fun and upbeat. Only takes checks/cash, but is nice about it if you forget a check and allowed us to pay double the next time. We are not check people.\r

Cons: \r
Missed 3 appointments completely. On one occasion her car was outside the office while we waited a 1/2 hour in her waiting room and texted her with no response. She didn't contact me about it until the next day. My husband had to get a babysitter for another session that she missed. One other missed appointment she called my work phone (duh, I'm not AT work.. I'm AT YOUR OFFICE) 5 minutes after the start time of our appointment to say she had to take care of an emergency. Then we just happened to be puttering around on a walk around the office park and saw her car pull back in to her office lot at exactly 1pm.. just the time our session ends.\r
\r
Put a damper on counseling in general - this was our first experience trying outside help and it didn't go well.\r
\r
Never gave 'homework' I had to ask for extra activities to practice at home. \r

I've made an apt to see another Boulder counselor, a LMFT who uses a cognitive approach to therapy. I felt w/Elizabeth I talked and talked and talked and had to pull the action items out for myself. I'd say, so how do we do this at home? Give me examples.., etc. I don't feel like I should be the one doing this, I feel with the money we are paying + her level of education, she should be providing all of this to us.
