I would not recommend this company and I should have listened to other reviewers who also had bad experiences with Saint Paul Plumbing and Heating. I needed a new water heater and called for a bid. The technician presented a bid that was substantially higher than what another plumber had given me. When I told him the bid was too high, he said there was another option: I could buy a power vented unit, which would be eligible for a federal tax credit of up to one-third of the cost (about $800 in my case) and a rebate from Xcel. So I bit. But it was me who ended up wounded because the unit he installed is not eligible for the tax credit or the $40 to $60 rebate. So I called to complain. In fact, I called three times before connecting with David, the “customer service” rep. He tried to buy me off by offering me the $60 rebate from Xcel Energy, but said he could not do anything about the tax credit and that his technican did not tell me the unit was eligible. He basically called me a liar. This company made $2,400 off me by misrepresenting the unit it installed. (I would have gone with the other plumber had I not been told I’d get an $800 tax credit.) The unit Saint Paul Plumbing and Heating installed had the Energy Star sticker, which the technician even pointed out to me, as he reiterated that the unit would be eligible for the tax credit. Now, I'm taking the company to small claims court and will file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. I highly recommend choosing another “good guy” plumber and let these bamboozlers go under. more
