needs an uplift but still very pretty 8/6/2010

On Aug 6th took my wife for her birthday. Small crowd for Friday night. Two waiters. One good. One clueless. Ordered a french Chablis and after a VERY long time the guy came back and said they did have my wine but they suggested the bottlle in his hand as an alternative. Which was Jacobs Creek Cabarnet Saviagon. Not exactly equivalent. Crab cakes for starter and they were actually good. I had a pecan crusted snapper and my wife a filet and both were actually quite good. So the food still holds up. The wine prices are reasonable and the view is still glorious. I hope the place survives. It needs "freshing up" and I suspect it is now surviving on wedding receptions and events rather than just the casual dinners. I wouldn't write it off - but - i would love to see them spend some money on it - and then advertise it. I remember years ago when this was one of THE places to go in Houston. Sort of sad to have 6 tables of dinners on a Friday night - in a huge place. Even sadder because - it really still good enough to justify a bigger crowd even without the uplift. more
