I have lived in Milwaukee my whole life. We eat out at least 2x per week if not more. I was looking for a new restaurant and stumbled upon reviews of Chez Jacques. We read the good and the bad and decided to take our chances. Huge mistake. We got there and the doors to the place were wide open. Then we ordered appetizers. We tried the escargot which had absolutely no flavor and they had a special on mussels. Again no flavor and very small muscles. Wait staff--no just Jacques and another guy. My daughter ordered the cheese plate for her main course and that was good. Of course, I felt they should have said what the cheeses were. We then began to see fruit flies all around our food. They even went into our wine bottle. I ordered the Duck A'laorange. They had a duck confit as a special, but he said that the duck was not crispy and the Duck l:orange was. It was so bad; I had to send it back. it was fatty and greasy and had no flavor. If that was an orange sauce, they shipped it from france and it lost all flavor on the way. I told Jacques it was terrible. He asked me if I wanted to order something else. I decided to try the veal. The waiter then came back 10 minutes later and said the veal was no good to order something else. I ordered the Shrimp and Crab crepe. Now, remember this is not an inexpensive restaurant. they put imitation crab meat in the crepe and tiny shrimp. Again, it had no flavor. Made me wonder what they use in their crab cakes. Overall the meal was expensive and horrible. I would never go back and I can recommend at least 10 restaurants far superior to this one for the same price and in the same vicinity . I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone.\r
