In the few months that I have lived in the Heights I have driven by 11th Street Cafe hundreds of times and kept telling myself to stop and have a bite. Well I finally did and now wish that I would have stopped everyone of those times to eat there. The food was excellent, the service was great, and we had a good time.
We ordered a pizza, a hamburger and some fried pickles. The best of them all were the pickles. They were thinly sliced and breaded lightly. Man, where they good. Crisp and not overly salty or sour like some others I've tried before. The pizza tasted good and seemed to be made with fresh cheese and a crisp crust. The pricing was right as were the portions. Our server was really nice and was glad to help us with whatever we needed.
The only bad thing I could find was the coffee. I'm always excited to find a place that offers espresso and coffee, and so when I saw their big coffee menu on the wall I was hopeful. I ordered a latte and it didn't taste right. To be sure I ordered a shot of espresso and it was definitely off. I'm not sure if it's the bean, Lola Savanah, or how they prepared it but it wasn't that great.
However, there are lots of coffee shops to go to nearby, so definitely go to 11th Street Cafe for everything else! It's worth it.
