My wife gave Birth in Beth Israel of NY (1st and & 16st) two weeks ago. Would like to share our experience.
Delivery:
While in delivery, staff was friendly and attentive. Doctor has done a great job in delivering a baby.
Maternity care:
Things however have changed in nursery. In that place one hand has no idea what the other one is up to. They brought the baby to my wife and basically said she is now on her own. Even though she was not even well enough to go to the restroom by herself. She simply could not take care of the baby and cried all her tears out.
When they finally realized she is not bluffing, things actually got worse. Now we had doctors of all names and specialties coming in every hour ""checking up on her"". All this with no real help and 0 useful advise. What is the damn point of doctors / nurses waking her up in the middle of the night to check pulse and blood pressure? She was not dying. She had an intense experience and now needed some rest and care. But she got the opposite. Despite all the people around , there was NO ONE who could help her get up from bed and go to the restroom. She could not sleep or rest because of hospital stupidity. THEY FORGOT ABOUT HER BREAKFAST. And so she was hungry for half of the day until I could come and bring some food. I could keep on writing, but think it you've got the idea. I have not seen such idiotic organization in my entire life.
Pros: People seem to mean well, but unable to put that to practice
Cons: Total lack of coordination, incompetence.
