I'm twenty-eight years old and until two years ago I've never had a flattering haircut or color. That all changed when I went into see Rita Ragone at Astor Place. I got the recommendation from another City Search person and I've never let anyone touch my hair since! Rita, who works part-time with celebrities and soap opera stars, is just as funny, attentive and compassionate to the needs of "regular joe's" like myself as she is to the beautiful people. She discusses what colors and styles flatter your face, what tricks to do at home, what cheap products to buy, and will even show you for free how to recreate her salon style. She is available day or night for hair emergencies, and with her level of trust and understanding towards someone's self-esteem, I have never, literally NEVER in all the times I've gone to her, seen her do an unflattering cut or color on a man or woman in her salon. I have had professionals from boutique salons ask who did my color, and strangers come up to me on the street and ask where I got my hair cut. She gives 110% at all times, be it a simple bang trim or a full head of highlights and multiple inches off. I am only sorry I hadn't found her sooner in my life. She will work with any nationality, length of hair, age and price range until she finds what works best for YOU. I never once felt rushed, intimidated, or scared to speak up for my wants and needs. I would recommend her for everything from a prom updo to a wedding style to "freshening up" for a night out on the town.
