I've been to Ulah Bistro on different occasions - a first date, late dinner with friends, etc. - and the restaurant has been great every time. They serve delicious meals with good portions and have a solid drink list (I'm particularly happy that they have alcoholic Arnold Palmer's). Ulah offers American cuisine like Roasted Chicken and Crab Cakes - typical dishes you can find at other restaurants, but they're particularly cooked well and very tasty. I've had their Jambalaya, which was top-notch, and comparable to other DC spots that concentrate on southern food. Nothing particularly pops out from my experiences as absolutely phenomenal, but I definitely like this place a lot. Think of Ulah as a good, local alternative to just going to a regular 'ol Cheesecake Factory or Red Lobster. You'll get the warm, cozy experience of a nice local spot with food that's just as good, if not better.
