Wanted it to be good 5/9/2010

I found this restaurant through a google search after I called a few other places that were booked for mother's day brunch. It had gotten so many good reviews i figured we would give it a try. Boy was a I wrong. First it took a very long time for everything. Even though the restaurant was full no one seemed to be in any sort of rush. Even with a reservation it took about 10 min to get seated. Then another 10 to get our order (not our drink order that was someone else). It took about 20 min from sitting down to get our drinks...one glass of water or coffee at a time. The only thing that happened quickly was someone dropping off a pastry plate for the table when we first sat down. This was actually very tasty. After about 45 min our waitress (there was only 1 waitress taking orders) came over and said our food would just bit a little longer. After almost an hour and half I walked over and spoke to the manager to find out what was taking so long. When getting up I noticed that the couple who sat down before us still had not been served either. The women said she apologized and said that all their food is cooked to order and made fresh and that they over booked and the kitchen couldnt handle the demand. We were about to get up and leave and the manager came over and informed us that our meal would be free and that we would be receiving gift cards for a future visit. We figured we would wait it out. After waiting for almost 2 and half hours we were hopping for a silver lining in that the food would be worth the wait...sadly it was not. Out of the 5 dishes only 2 were correct/good. My mother's scrambled eggs ordered well done were runny and had multiple egg shells. My brother ordered a shrimp dish in a bourbon cream sauce which came out not reduced and tasted like you were taking shots of alcohol. I order the creme brulee stuffed french toast and while it was very tasty it was more of an orange creme not a creme brulee. We went next door to a sub shop and got some sandwiches to take home because we were all still pretty hungry. And after talking with the cashier she said we are not the first people to complain. She hasn't heard a positive thing since they opened. And like I said in the title I wanted this restaurant to be good. The menu looked great unfortunately I just don't think the staff has what it takes to run a good restaurant. **Looking back over the reviews I think they were all written by friends or family or even by employees. more
