Core Power Yoga offers a crossbreed yoga practice, which is why I love them. Others may argue it's not true yoga, which may be valid, but it's sure a great workout.
Their Hot Yoga is taken directly from the Bikram yoga practice and stays pretty loyal to the poses. However, they offer shortened class times, which means some poses are only done one time instead of twice as pure Bikram would have. Their Hot Power Infusion rocks! Exactly as the name suggests, they incorporate both hot and core power poses. I dare anyone who thinks yoga is for wimps to try a class of Yoga Sculpt. Practitioners use weights and it's tough! Core Power Yoga stretches and blurs the line between yoga traditions. Yogis who may not like Core Power Yoga are those who like to stay pure to traditional yoga practices.
During class the music is contemporary, but calm. Teachers constantly offer suggestions to improve practice, yet, they never tell you to move beyond your ability and level. In fact, they encourage practitioners to be aware of their bodies and any discomfort.
On a different note, I appreciate the variety of teachers both in knowledge and body. It's refreshing to see teachers who must weigh between 150 and 200 pounds. It makes the practice truly attainable to anybody who wants to try it. They are great role models. (However, you won't often find these teachers at the downtown location. Image is a much bigger deal at the 13th Ave. studios.)
This specific studio stands out to me for the lovely amenities in their dressing room. Lotion, tampons, and even mouth wash. The small details are the icing on the cake. (It's possible other locations have these conveniences, but in the hustle & bustle, I didn't pay attention.)
This is a great studio especially for those who are already familiar and agreeable to Core Power Yoga's yoga classes. Beginners can find a class that supports them, likewise advanced students will never get bored.
