If your day has been just a little too good, and you're looking to eat bad food and be treated worse, head to Sewadee.
My wife and I made the trip and experienced the worst service we've ever had. Upon entering we waited while the owner watched TV and chatted with her friends for a few minutes before seating us. She apologized and said it was so busy - there were only three groups dining and about 20 empty tables. Almost empty. (If that?s busy, I don?t know how they stay in business. It may better for everyone if they weren?t.)
We were seated next to a group that seemed to know the owner. She chatted with them loudly and brought several dishes for them to try before we ever had the chance to order or even had drinks.
We finally ordered and after about 40 minutes, our food was delivered - to the other table. After her friends picked out of it, and about 10 minutes passed, the waiter casually said sorry and just grabbed the plates and put them in front of us. As if we were supposed to eat what was left after the owner's friends had their fill.
We requested new dishes and after another wait (the restaurant was still quite empty), our food arrived. Though warm and properly delivered, it was bland and uninspired. We thought about leaving before the food came back the second time, but said, ""maybe it's good, let's give them a second chance.""
Mistake. Should have left. Save yourself the trouble and don't go. Unless you have a taste for bad food and bad service.
I would have been better served burning my money and having someone slap me in the face. At least I wouldn't have had to suffer through that terrible meal.
We love good Thai food - any Asian cuisine. And Houston has many great restaurants. Try any one of the others - you'll have a much better experience.
Cons: Poor service, apathetic management, bland food
