I'm Native Texan, caucasian, and love Indian cuisine. Chola Restaurant in Round Rock serves excellent food, in a warm, friendly atmosphere. I've eaten there perhaps 20 times in the last 2 years, often enough that the staff recognizes me. I've eaten most often during the buffet, but also a few times in the evenings when one must order from the menu. I was VERY happy to find an Indian restaurant of such high quality, North of downtown Austin. I've eaten at many Indian places down in Austin - Chola is better than most. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food on the buffet. I expect (from experience with other buffets) that the buffet would be 'over cooked' and in general less tasty than individually prepared dishes. Chola's buffet food is fresh and TASTY! uhmmm... I just may have to eat lunch there. The buffet is about $10, meals from the menu cost more - primarily because I order 3 or 4 items.
The restaurant building interior has a 'charm' in that it's not all polished and shiny/glitzy/modern like many of the (other cuisines) in the same area... although it does appear 'shabby' as if the owners did the decor rather than hiring 'professionals'. Be that as it may - I'm there to eat, I'm not distracted by the decor.
