As an italian american who grew up eating the real thing, Deangelos is not anything I would recommend. The food was mediocre, a step above Olive Garden, maybe.
Additionally, my friend ordered one dish and received another and the bill was not adjusted accordingly. We also ordered an overpriced bottle of chianti and we received a different vintage than listed on the wine list. Upon returning home we found this vintage retails for approximately $13-$15.
The most frustrating and irritating thing about our experience was that there was no attempt made to explain or remedy the above situation by the staff. The bartender claimed there was ""no manager on duty"" and we could call back in the morning to complain. The bartender, mind you, strikes a very close resemblance to one of the co-owners pictured on the restaurant's website.
There are many excellent italian restaurants in Philadelphia and many are byob. I suggest you do your research and ask around.
