Not family friendly - Food is OK but nothing remarkable 12/9/2010

Beware! Uni Sushi is not kid friendly. Not even at lunch. Their americanized sushi is just OK, nothing remarkable, but the service is slow and poor and the attitude of some of the employees is awful. The hostesses are extremely arrogant and puffed-up. The rude and inexperienced hostesses truly believed they are guarding the gates of heaven. My wife went there the other today to meet with her friends for lunch and brought along our 10 month old baby who happened to be sleeping on the stroller when we she got there. The hostesses told her they did not have space for the stroller, to what my wife told them the baby was sleeping and she was not about to wake her up. To what the hostess replied "That is fine, do you want me to tell your friends you are not going to make it?". That was simply impolite and rude period.. Is not like it was a huge stroller. Actually it is very low profile, the smallest McLaren makes. I am very surprised that the inconsiderate hostess didn't offer my wife an option, like moving a chair or even changing tables. Because there were plenty of empty tables around that day. Long story short, my wife had to wait 20 minutes for the baby to wake up in order to leave the stroller outside and go in to meet her friends. What is worst is that the restaurant doesn't even have high chairs, only boosters designed for older kids. So my wife had to hold our baby with one arm all the time she was there. It is obvious, that the management and owners of the Uni Sushi think they are too cool for babies in strollers. A 10 month old sleeping baby can't walk or seat on a booster or on an adult chair. So, I am wondering if the hostess would do the same to a person on a wheelchair..... After all, a wheelchair is bigger than a stroller. There are not too many options for sushi in the Woodlands. As a matter of fact we have dumped hundreds of dollars at Uni Sushi over the last two years. Well today was the last time for our family. I don't want to patronize a restaurant where my sleeping baby is not welcomed! If you want to eat sushi in the Woodlands, better go to Masa's. They do not have the upscale atmosphere, but the food is authentic and tasty. And most importantly, they treat their customers well and make families with kids feel welcomed. more
