For years I had used a salon on 57th Street but when my favorite stylist left and they raised their prices from $80 to $115 I needed to make a change. As a 50-year-old guy I was worried that I would be out of place at Astor Place Hair as I am not an art student or East Village rocker but I was instantly seen to and had the good fortune of being handed over to Mercedes. I'm used to wasting over an hour getting a haircut but in just 12 minutes Mercedes gave me the best cut I've had in years. And the price was $100 less than I had been paying. Fantastic!
